Not gonna lie, after the research it's going to be tough for Crystal Palace to win my hand. The club is probably the fourth or fifth best (in London) and sits at 12th in the table. Historically, it's pretty rough. Despite being considered arguably the oldest continuous football club in the world, Palace maintains a dusty trophy case. No European titles, First League titles, or FA Cups. The best they've ever finished in third in the table in the 90-91 season. In terms of play, historically Crystal Palace has been compared to a yo-yo with its ups and downs. The squad does feature American Chris Richards on their roster, and a majority share of their ownership is American based. Let's be honest, CPFC just wishes they were American.
The club reps red, white, and blue. Their nickname is "The Eagles" and they feature an eagle prominently in their logo. Before a tragic death in 2020 (RIP) they had a live American bald eagle mascot who swooped down before their games. That's pretty fire, I guess. They used to host the FA Cup every year. I don't know there's not too much other crazy stuff to report.
The kits are fine, nice colors. Again, they wish they were America. Their logo has a bridge, and you all know how I feel about bridges. If you don't highly recommend my contentious bridge power ranking article. Ted Lasso's AFC Richmond most closely resembles Crystal Palace and filmed scenes at their home pitch. The only other cool anecdote I can think of is my small personal connection to Palace. When FC Cincinnati was a young USL club, they had a friendly against CP at home which was pretty cool. Similarly, to Aston Villa, Crystal Palace is a good name. Less classy, but strong regardless.
Crystal Palace if you really want to have a shot at this, turn your stadium into a literal Crystal Palace. That would be sweet and I'm sure a great use of club funds. Not the strongest contender, but a competitive squad that has potential for lots of excitement for better and worse. While they may be "lovable losers" I realize my support could be their missing piece. If I join and they do win, the party will be absolutely insane. That is certainly alluring. They may not be my number one at the moment, but they have a solid foundation that could certainly be built upon.
