2023 will be my first full year as a member of the 18+ community. With this obviously comes many new decisions and responsibilities. It seems almost irresponsible to me that a person of my age is expected to make such a life altering decision. This is a time where I've been finding out what my personal beliefs and values are, a time of growth and discovery. This process has required soul searching, research, and prayer. Now here we are, a senior in high school looking forward at how he's going to shape the rest of his life.
My preliminary decision is in. I have made the list of the ten candidates vying for my hand. If you hadn't deduced this yet, I'm clearly talking about choosing which English soccer team that I will be fully devoted to for the rest of my life. I love soccer, I love my hometown FC Cincinnati, I love cheering for the US national teams. Yet recently I've found myself on the outside looking in on Premier League discussions. Considering I'm expected to be able to choose my college I thought maybe I'm prepared enough to choose a team.
Let the record show this will not be a casual fandom, this team with instantly be put right up there with the American teams I love. I plan on writing full blogs on each team, along with producing weekly power rankings and eliminations. My plan is to have my decision in by the end of this season, which occurs at the end of May. I refuse to cheer for any of the big six teams. I fully understand that this makes little sense as I'm not tied geographically so I might as well choose a team with a shot. Call me a glutton for punishment but I have significantly more teams on my list who will be in the relegation battle. I have varying reasoning for each team, but this list was based simply off of gut feel and prior knowledge. Without further ado, my future.
-Aston Villa
-Crystal Palace
-Leeds
-Nottingham Forrest
-West Ham
-Everton
-Southhampton
-Blackburn
-Norwich
-Swansea
(Ordered by current spot on the league table)
I appreciate everyone's support during this time. To my loved ones, I'm sorry for adding another sports team to be insufferably committed to. It'll be a fun journey, and maybe when I'm done with this, I can figure out that whole college thing.
